Shree Sahajanand Vanijya Mahavidyalay was established by H.H. Acharyashree Devendra Prasadji kelavani Trust, Ahmedabad in 1991, upon the request of the then vice chancellor of the Gujarat University in order to solve the problem of catering higher education. It is a prominent educational institute of Ahmedabad, catering qualitative higher education to a large populace of the city for the last 17 years in Ahmedabad.
The trust is established by H.H. 1008 Shri Devendraprasadji Maharaj out of his own contribution and the huge amount received from devotees as a part of celebration of 25 years to his position. Shree H. H. Devendraprasdji Kelavani trust was formed on the 29th June 1964 at Ahmedabad vides Regn. No. E. 1255 under the Public Charitable Trust Act, 1950. Shree Sahajanand Vanijya Mahavidyalay is one among the ten institutes which was established on 15th June 1991. |

The location of the college is so convenient that students can easily reach the college through public transport as well as private transport easily. It is a Co-education, Gujarati and English Medium College permanently affiliated with the Gujarat University and got UGC recognition under section 2 (f) and 12 (b) in Dec 2005. The Financial status of the College is grant- in- aid at present. But at the time of establishment the college did not receive Govt. grants for seven years and paid full salary benefits as per the university and government norms. The College offers under graduate degree program, B.Com and from the year 2008 – 09, 40 short term employment oriented Add-on Certificate Courses through Gujarat Knowledge Society and SCOPE “Society for Creation of Opportunity through Proficiency in English”. The college has tie up with educational institutes and leading NGOs to bring up the innate talent of the students to the light.
The College has well qualified faculty members. The Principal Dr. Ganshyambhai N. Patel is a Senate member and an Executive Council member of Gujarat University.
Faculties actively participate and attend various national and state level subject related seminars and conferences. The College strives to polish the students of middle class educational background loaded with poor study habits and lack of dynamism etc. Our extensive work is at the Micro level. The college aims at making its students well-equipped with all the qualitative skills so that students can achieve core competencies, which are the need of the day. We have been trying to shift the focus from the teacher to the students. We use student centric methods. The students are made aware of their civic responsibilities during the classroom education and are trained to be better citizens. They are also advised to keep away from all vices. The students are motivated to join the NSS, NCC and sports for their all round personality. We also have a tradition of celebrating Teachers’ Day, Independence Day, Republic Day every year.
The College does emphasize on preparation and implementation of Annual Planning, Unitization and Question Bank of the Curriculum in all the subjects. We have initiated the use of ICT resources from this year. We have remedial courses and bridge courses for the English and other subjects,. During the Year 2008-09 so far, 05 cultural and 20 sports activities have taken place. We have formed various committees to carry out various activities. Along with teachers, students and parents also participate in activities.
The Management Provides complete authority to The Principal to manage the College according to the Vision and Mission of the College. The discipline of the students of the institution is also one of the noteworthy features of the college. The sense of discipline, fraternity and thirst for knowledge, along with a whole-hearted willingness to work for the institution are the tools by which we aim to achieve our specific goals and objectives.
The College has constantly been striving and achieving better results in Gujarat University Examination. The entrance level competency of the
students is fairly good. The Management neither accepts any kind of donation from any resource nor additional fee from the students. College has not yet received any development grants from the UGC, so the College functions under financial constraints. Thus, the College has been putting in efforts to achieve Maximum result out of Minimum resources.
